The research group for natural product chemistry at Lund University is studying bioactive secondary metabolites isolated from various sources, and their efforts have during the last two decades resulted in more than 300 publications in scientific journals. Important work tasks for the group are the structure elucidation of new metabolites by spectroscopic characterisation and computational techniques, synthesis of bioactive natural products as well as derivatives and analogues of such compounds in order to facilitate QSAR studies, as well as semisynthesis of novel compounds starting from reactive secondary metabolites.
